Social networking phobia

Brandi Severs

In today's time, the Internet is becoming more and more popular every day. People use the Internet for almost everything now in days. From finding information to selling supplies to chatting with a friend you have not seen in years or days. Because the internet has a lot of features in it that we all love, of coarse there are those who fear it, thus new phobias and anxieties are born. People who have anxieties towards being social in general tend to look to the internet for an escape from people, a haven of sorts.
However with the increase of social interacting sites like Facebook and twitter coming up and becoming more popular, the anxieties grow into fears that delve into social interaction using the internet. People who gain these fears really have a whole bunch of fears just meshed together that all collect into one giant anxiety that affects everything they do whether it is on the internet or outside in the real world. Or it could just be on the internet itself, it really depends on the person. They fear making mistakes that they can not take back, since the internet seems to be like a black hole that sucks everything in and does not spit anything out. They fear that they will mess up and write something on a page that would affect their overall image that they had made for themselves. That itself has become a fear that people try to stay away from on a daily basis.
There is also the wanting to 'fit in', to be in a group of people. Humans are social creatures which seek other humans to accept them and acknowledge them as another human worth anything to society. Using the internet to get that attention, so we can be with another group of people, whether it is in person or not, can create either great pleasure if we are accepted or anxiety, depression, and sometimes even fear if we are rejected. We all fear rejection of any kind, and having it in person is a horrible feeling. However, you can at least rationalize why you were rejected if the person or people rejecting you in front of you. On the internet, not only is the person or people not even there in front of you, they might not even be in the same county as you. The rejection is very impersonal and, most of the time, gives you nothing as a hint as to why you were rejected. That is just adding more negative feelings to the rejection by people on a screen; making more anxiety and fear for the person involved.
The internet, for people who have other anxieties/fears than just the internet, could help to amplify them. The internet has an entire world's worth of information in its data banks. People who have anxieties already might get new information from the internet that might or might not be true and get overly scared about the topic they looked up, even knowing they would be afraid even more because humans are curious creatures who do not know how to not look at something they know they would regret. And since they used the internet for getting this information, now they have a fear of whatever they looked up but now a fear of the internet as a result.

mona lisa thing

I choose the American broadcasting company (abc) network logo. abc is a television network that has been in business since he 1940's. I think it's really simple and plain and the network could use something more, whimsical. Or at least the logo could be more colorful and more eye catching than it is now. It used to be cool looking and eye catching, but they changed it over the years so that it is this really plain black ball with abc in it with some shiny red or blue in there for effect. not good enough for me.

My movie wound be about me being pulled into the slenderman game and trying to survive long enough to either get out of the game or figure out what happened for this to happen.

My name is Brandi and I was chosen for this game simulator where the player feels as though they are in the game and that they are that main character. So, I go and we are playing Slender and we start to the classic black title screen. By the way, the way to play slender is that in this dark forest area we have to collect 8 pages, or pieces of paper, with warnings about the slenderman on them, without seeing the slenderman. If you see him, you will have a certain amount of seconds to look away and run depending on how close you are to him. If you gather al 8 pages that are scattered around the forest, you win. If you see slenderman for too long or too close, you lose. You die, essentially. We start playing and all of a sudden, there's this burst of light and the sound of static blares through out the whole place. Apparently someone had already lost and we all thought that was why it stared to bug out like that. So we keep playing, and I start to search the building, where everyone is suppose to go, and find the dead player's...remains. When I screamed and shouted that this wasn't cool, I got no response, even though the people in charge of this were suppose to respond to everything we said, since the protagonist is a silent protagonist, thus not suppose to talk. So now, we started with 10 players, and now 3 are dead, just lying around, and this is starting to get freaky, since I've already gotten 3 pages. What is going on? Someone help please? Please?

Album

I liked the Nightmare before Christmas poster. The darker colors match the tone of the initial theme of the movie while the whimsical art style matches the fantastical story that the movie brings. plus, the brightmoon contrasting jack makes you look at jack and gets you interested in who he is and what he is doing there.

My realistic invention

The never-ending ruler: a ruler tape that has so much measuring tape, it can measure things unimaginable like a planet or a mountain to a building.

My unrealistic invention

The Love collar: it's a collar that measures your love level for whatever you're thinking about or looking at.

I want to choose the
panda cheese logo. I really like this logo mainly because of the commercials the brand makes to promote its cheese in a different and attention grabbing way, to some. Also, the logo itself has a nice gentle design to it, so it's easy on the eyes. Plus the colors they use are al basic colors that go against each other while complementing each other at the same time. Also, I like pandas so a cheese with a panda mascot is different and entertaining.

Write a five line story?

There once was a story about a story that a little boy once read. The boy was puzzled about the fact that the story he was reading was about another story. He asked his grandmother about the strange book he was reading and asked, "Grandma, why is the story about another story, shouldn't be about it's own story?" The grandmother just chuckled and said to her little boy, " Ho ho, well, it really doesn't matter who's story the book is telling the story, as long as the story gets told."
